This trek offers a varied alpine experience, combining glaciers, rock formations, and breathtaking panoramas. The route begins at Scex Rouge, accessible via cable car from the Col du Pillon. From there, the itinerary crosses the Tsanfleuron Glacier towards the Quille du Diable (also known as Tour Saint-Martin), a prominent peak rising to 2,908 meters, offering stunning views of the Valaisan Alps. After a break at the “Refuge l’Espace,” located nearby, the trail descends to the Prarochet Hut, situated at 2,555 meters, an ideal spot for a rest. The hike continues through limestone pavements and scree slopes to the Sanetsch Pass (2,252 m), where the rocky landscape gives way to alpine meadows. The path then skirts the picturesque Sanetsch Lake, offering a view of its turquoise waters, before beginning the final descent through forests and meadows to Gsteig, at 1,200 meters of altitude. This nearly 19 km trek is generally considered moderate and takes about five and a half hours to complete.
