Craving a pause far from it all?
At Pâquier-Mottier, perched at 1,500 metres, Nicolas Mottier welcomes you to his alpine world. Your journey begins with a scenic 3 to 3.5-hour round-trip hike, through peaceful pastures and alpine stillness.
At the top, time slows down. The fire crackles, the cheese rests. Nicolas serves a warm, rustic dinner, prepared with care and local flavours. Afterward, settle in for the night — on straw or in a simple bed, as you prefer.
At dawn, the magic begins: witness the making of L’Etivaz AOP, a bold alpine cheese hand-stirred in copper cauldrons over a wood fire. Nicolas shares every movement, every scent, every sound. The experience ends with a homemade mountain breakfast – fresh bread, cheese, jam and honey.
